Yoga Teacher Training

image1.jpeg

Soma YTT Teaching Philosophy:

At  Soma, we believe yoga doesn’t need to be intimidating, life-perfecting or reserved for a certain type of person.

This training is designed for real humans who want to move, learn, question, connect and eventually share yoga with others confidently and authentically.

We don’t create carbon-copy teachers.
We help you become more yourself.

Expect deep learning, big laughs, occasional overwhelm, honest conversations and a lot of time on the mat figuring things out together.

Yoga is called your ‘practice.’ And that’s what we expect, practice, not perfection. How can you bring your real, raw & authentic self to your practice as a teacher.

YTT Syllabus:

The Foundations - Asana, Pranayama & Meditation - 60 hours contact time

Practice sits at the heart of this course. Covering about 30%. Students will explore yoga through embodied experience, developing both personal practice and teaching understanding. Taught by Georgie.

  • Foundations of Ashtanga

  • Breath-led movement

  • Functional alignment rather than aesthetic perfection

  • Pranayama techniques

  • Adapt postures for real bodies in real rooms

  • Integrate breath, movement and awareness

Wisdom & Being - Philosophy & Ayurveda - 14 hours contact time

We’ll Cover history and context of yoga traditions, introduction to Ayurvedic principles, lifestyle awareness and energetic balance. Students are encouraged to explore philosophy with curiosity rather than dogma.

Students will learn how to creatively sequence and theme their classes and be given the freedom to play with the ‘rules’ on and off the mat. We’ll explore intelligent transitions, peak pose planning and when to follow the rules and when to soften them. Because great teaching lives somewhere between knowledge and play. Taught by Georgie and Sian.

Methodology & Authenticity – Establishing your Teaching Practice – 14 hours contact time

Approx. 40% of the course is dedicated to students working together to practice their teaching including verbal cues and hands on adjustments. Students will teach early and will be given space to develop their own authentic voice and style of teaching. Taught by Georgie & Sian.
